FAQ

  1. Q. How do you choose your agencies?  Any 501c3 organization is eligible to apply to become an agency of the United Way.  Applications are sent out in the fall and Application Interviews take place in November.  A committee consisting of United Way Board Members and Community members from businesses that donate to the United Way conduct interviews and review the applications.  They then decide if an organization will be an agency and how much money they will be allocated for the upcoming year.
  1. Q. How much money do you send off to United Way Worldwide?  The United Way of Leflore County pays approximately $1,200 a year to United Way Worldwide for licensing and resources.  The rest of our funds all stay local to support our agencies.
  1. Q. How can I give to the United Way?  You can donate online or send a check to P.O. Box 524.  All donations to the United Way are tax deductible.
  1. Q. How can I get involved and serve on the United Way Board?  The United Way of Leflore County has its annual meeting every January.  We elect new board members during this meeting.  If you are interested in serving on the United Way Board, contact the Executive Director at uwoflc@yahoo.com
